If you have made the decision to get a tattoo, the available choices may be a bit overwhelming. Even if you've already decide on the theme of your tattoo, for instance, a rose, there are dozens of designs from which you can choose. Choosing the perfect tattoo can be hard.
On option may be to get a temporary tattoo first and see if you like the design. Make sure you keep a picture of the tattoo. If the size, location and design of the temporary tattoo work for you, you can have a permanent tattoo applied. This may not be possible with tattoos that cover large areas like sleeve tattoos. Temporary tattoos are usually fairly small.
While temporaries are not practical for large tattoos, they are a great way to experiment with size, theme and location for small tattoos. You may try several before you make your final decision.
One advantage of small tattoos is that they can easily be hidden. Nor everyone has a positive attitude about tattoos and it may not be acceptable to display your body art in your workplace. Small tattoos located in areas which are normally covered by clothing may be the best option if you aren't comfortable displaying your tattoo at social functions.
Another consideration when planning a tattoo is the cost of the design and the amount of time it will take to complete. Small tattoos are usually less expensive than larger designs and can be completed in one appointment. Larger designs like back tattoo and sleeve tattoos may take several appointments to complete and are much pricier than small ones.
Tattoos are considered permanent although they can be removed by a cosmetic surgeon with the use of a surgical laser. If you have a tattoo removed, it may leave a scar, or an area of skin with light pigmentation. A small tattoo is easier to remove than a large tattoo. The procedure to remove a large tattoo may also take several appointments.
Small tattoos do tend to fade more over time than large tattoos. Avoid rubbing the area of skin where your tattoo is located. Never scrub or use abrasive skin cleansers on your tattoo, especially when it is new. Follow your tattoo artist's directions for care of your tattoo.
Some parts of your body where small tattoos can be drawn are on the wrist, finger, neck, back of the neck, near the bell button, and so on. These are very small so you can place them wherever you want.
Popular designs for a small tattoo are Chinese or Japanese characters, zodiac sign, and other tribal symbols. Even if the tattoo is small, you still have to thin carefully on what design you need to choose. After all, a tattoo is not just for body decoration, but also to symbolize one aspect of the wearer's life.
It is also easy to put several small tattoos all over your body. You can have one on your finger, one on your inner wrist, another at the back of your neck, and in other places but still they will not be so obvious, unlike if you have several big tattoos.
